The True Taste of Chekku Oil

Chekku wood cold-pressed oil is made using a traditional wooden chekku, where seeds are gently crushed without heat, preserving natural nutrients, aroma, and antioxidants. Unlike steel presses, the wooden pestle—often made from vagai wood—keeps the temperature low, ensuring a healthier, richer, and more authentic oil for everyday cooking.

What is Chekku Oil?

In the earlier days oil was prepared in traditional method using chekku. Bullocks were used to move around the marachekku(wooden pestle) and oil seeds in the chekku were crushed without generating any heat.

The same system is replicated by replacing Bullocks with a Motor and Gearbox. The wooden pestle revolves at a speed of 14 rotations per minute. This is to ensure that oil is not heated and no nutrients is lost.

What is wood cold pressed oil?

Traditional chekku consist of a fixed stone bottom and the pestle is made up of a wood called “vagai”. In traditional wood chekku, the seeds are crushed with a wooden pestle.

There are other types of chekku where the bottom and the pillar is made of steel. The advantages of wood chekku over steel chekku is that the oil does not heated. Hence the vitamins and minerals are retained.

Oil Section

Chekku oil is a traditional cold-pressed oil made using a wooden press called a chekku. Earlier, bullocks powered the wooden pestle to crush oil seeds slowly without heat. Today, motors and gearboxes replicate this process, maintaining a slow rotation of 14 times per minute. This gentle extraction preserves the oil’s natural aroma, flavor, and nutrients, including vitamins and healthy fats, making Chekku oil a healthier, natural choice for cooking and overall wellness.

Oil Extraction
Chekku Oil
Wood cold-pressed oil is produced using a traditional chekku in which a wooden pestle usually made from vagai wood slowly crushes the seeds without generating heat. This method preserves the oil’s natural nutrients, aroma, and purity. Unlike steel chekku machines, which may raise temperature during extraction, wood chekku maintains a cooler process, ensuring vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants remain intact. As a result, wood cold pressed oils are healthier, more flavorful, and free from nutrient loss.

Chekku Oil is traditionally prepared using a chekku (wooden oil press), where bullocks once rotated the wooden pestle to crush oil seeds without generating heat, preserving nutrients.
Today, this method is modernized with a motor and gearbox replacing the bullocks. The wooden pestle rotates at 14 RPM, ensuring the seeds are cold-pressed. This slow, natural extraction process retains the oil’s essential nutrients, aroma, and flavor, making Chekku Oil pure, healthy, and rich in natural goodness.

Wood cold-pressed oil is extracted using a traditional chekku, which has a fixed stone base and a wooden pestle made of vagai. In this method, oil seeds are slowly crushed without generating heat, unlike steel chekku variants.
This gentle process ensures that the oil retains its natural vitamins, minerals, and nutrients. Wood cold pressing preserves the oil’s purity, flavor, and health benefits, making it a superior and nutritious choice compared to oils extracted using heated or mechanical methods.
